Fine jewellery is crafted to be worn and enjoyed, but it requires care and consideration to preserve its beauty over time. The following guidelines will help maintain the condition and longevity of your Maison C&R pieces.

General Care

Jewellery should be treated with care and removed during activities that may expose it to impact, abrasion, or chemicals.

We recommend removing your jewellery before:

  • exercising or engaging in physical activity

  • swimming or bathing

  • cleaning, gardening, or household tasks

  • applying perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, hairspray, or cleaning products

  • using alcohol-based products, including hand sanitiser

Repeated exposure to chemicals, moisture, or alcohol can damage metals, finishes, and gemstones over time.

When not worn, store your jewellery individually in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratching, tangling, or contact with harder pieces.

Gold Jewellery (9k, 14k & 18k)

Maison C&R works with solid gold in 9k, 14k, and 18k in both yellow and white gold.

  • Gold is a precious metal and will naturally develop surface marks with wear. Scratches and patina are part of normal wear and are not considered faults.

  • Higher karat gold (such as 18k) contains a greater percentage of pure gold and is therefore softer than lower karats like 9k or 14k. As a result, 18k gold may show scratches or surface marks more readily with everyday wear. This is a natural characteristic of higher gold content, not a defect.

White Gold

White gold jewellery is finished with a rhodium plating to achieve its bright white appearance.

  • Over time, this plating will naturally wear through normal use and may require re-plating as part of regular maintenance.

  • Re-plating is considered routine care and is not a manufacturing fault or warranty issue.

Important:
Avoid repeated exposure to hand sanitiser or alcohol-based products, as alcohol accelerates the wear of rhodium plating and can cause white gold to appear warmer or yellow in tone.

Rings

Rings are exposed to more daily wear than other jewellery and require particular care.

  • Remove rings before washing hands, applying hand sanitiser, exercising, lifting heavy objects, or doing manual tasks.

  • Impact, pressure, or repeated knocks can bend settings or loosen stones over time.

  • Damage caused by impact or misuse is not considered a manufacturing fault.

Bracelets & Necklaces

  • Remove bracelets and necklaces before sleeping, exercising, or swimming.

  • Chains are delicate and can stretch or break if pulled or snagged.

  • Avoid wearing chains during activities that may place stress on clasps or links.

Earrings

  • For hygiene and safety reasons, earrings should be worn with care and stored cleanly when not in use.

  • Avoid sleeping or exercising in earrings, particularly fine or stone-set styles.

  • Earrings should be cleaned regularly to remove build-up from skin oils or products.

Gemstones & Diamonds (Natural & Lab-Grown)

Maison C&R uses a combination of natural gemstones and lab-grown diamonds.

  • Natural gemstones vary in colour, tone, clarity, and character. These variations are inherent and not considered faults.

  • Lab-grown diamonds share the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds but should still be handled with care.

While diamonds and gemstones are durable, they are not indestructible.

  • Impact, knocks, or accidental force can cause chipping, cracking, or loosening of stones or settings.

  • Stones lost or damaged due to impact, misuse, or improper handling are not considered manufacturing defects.

Cleaning

We recommend gentle cleaning only.

  • Use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cloths, or commercial jewellery dips unless advised by a professional.

  • Always dry jewellery thoroughly before storing.

Important Note

Fine jewellery is delicate by nature and designed to be worn with care.

Damage caused by impact, accidental force, improper use, or failure to follow care instructions is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under warranty.

Regular maintenance, professional servicing, and mindful wear are essential to preserving your jewellery over time.
