Our story
Meet the founders Clement Balestrat and Romain Brun.
a shared idea
Maison C&R
Two Frenchmen, one city, and a shared conviction about how jewellery should be made.
Maison C&R was founded in Sydney in 2025 by Clément and Romain. From the outset, every collection has been designed and every piece made within our own Sydney studio. We work exclusively in solid gold, drawing on traditional techniques and keeping the entire process close to the bench.
The result is jewellery with a clear sense of origin. Designed by us, made by us, and intended to be worn for generations.
The studio
Made in Sydney, by hand
A jewellery house can choose to put its name on work made elsewhere. We have chosen another way.
Every piece is conceived, designed and made in our Sydney studio. We work with Australian gold, cutting, shaping, setting and finishing each piece entirely in-house. From the first drawing to the final polish, the work remains under our eye.
Keeping the entire process within our studio gives us a rare degree of control over the work. It allows the design of each collection to remain closely connected to the way it is made, and every detail to be considered as part of the whole.
We produce our collections in considered quantities, with the time and attention required to uphold the standard we set for our work.
French heritage
Four generations at the bench
The craft came to Romain through his family, as it had to his father and his grandfather before him.
It began with his great-grandfather and has continued uninterrupted ever since. Romain grew up in the family workshop, learning by observation and, in time, by doing.
Today, he carries that same knowledge into the Maison C&R studio in Sydney. The techniques have been passed down through generations, refined through experience rather than replaced by fashion.
A century later, the essential way of working remains the same.
SOLID GOLD, MADE FOR EVERY DAY
A DIFFERENT APPROACH
Our designs are deliberately substantial, but never excessive. Through proportion and form, we give solid gold a sense of volume while keeping each piece refined and wearable.
We have little interest in jewellery that is made to look precious for a moment, only to be worn a handful of times. Nor do we believe solid gold needs to be reserved for exceptional occasions. We design pieces to be worn every day, wherever you are going, and to stay with you long after the occasion has passed.
Solid gold is not the statement. It is the foundation. What matters to us is what we do with it: creating jewellery with presence, character and permanence that becomes part of everyday life.
